Ms. Taylor KockenmeisterMiddle Flex Educatorms.taylor@academyoflit.org
This will be my fourth year teaching at the Honors Academy of Literature and will be specifically teaching 6/7/Flex mathematics. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in Psychology and my masters from the University of Denver in Education. I have an endorsement in Curriculum and Instruction and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students.
My passion is being outside and exploring the Nevada landscape. In my free time, I love to be outside hiking as much as possible with my husband, Shane, my beautiful little boy, Maddox, and our two dogs. I’ve recently taken up learning about computer coding and have been having so much fun practicing front end design! Now, more than ever, teaching feels like an incredibly important job with all that our world is facing. I look forward to helping our scholars see connections between math, their identity, and advocacy for what is just. I’m prepared to be present for hard conversations with our scholars and to embrace growth with an open heart. I love teaching at HAL, as it has not only empowered me as a leader at our school, but as someone who feels confident in using their voice in our community. It is through our school community that I continue to challenge my thinking and dig deeper at my own identity, which will help me to do the same for our scholars. I <3 HAL |
