Ms. Taylor KockenmeisterMiddle School Teacherms.taylor@academyoflit.org
This will be my fifth year teaching at the Honors Academy of Literature and am excited to be teaching 6th and flex mathematics and social studies. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in Psychology and my masters from the University of Denver in Education. I have an endorsement in Curriculum and Instruction and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students. My passion is being outside and exploring the Nevada landscape. In my free time, I love to hike and snowshoe as much as possible with my husband, son and two dogs. Some of my favorite trails are Thomas Creek, Picnic Rock, and Tahoe Meadows. Now, more than ever, teaching is an incredibly important job with all that our world is facing. I look forward to helping our scholars see connections between math, global issues, their identity, and advocacy for what is equitable. I’m prepared to be present for hard conversations with our scholars and to embrace growth with an open heart. I love teaching at HAL, as it has not only empowered me as a leader at our school, but as someone who feels confident in using their voice in our community. It is through our school community that I continue to challenge my thinking and dig deeper at my own identity, which will help me to do the same for our scholars. I <3 HAL
