Ms. Dariah Scott
Some of my fondest memories of living up high in the Santa Cruz mountains as a young child include reading under the covers with my tiny battery operated camp light. My days were filled with imaginative play on the mountain because we didn’t have a TV – we didn’t even have electricity, or a phone until I was at least 10. Our family TV later was a 13in black & white TV, so books were my escape into a brilliantly colored imaginary world outside my small mountain community. After receiving my degree from the University of Oregon in 1999, I fell into the professional world of technology, marketing & branding. It was fascinating & I took those skills & interests with me to benefit the world of education & non-profit volunteering after having my own children. It has been such an honor working at Honors Academy of Literature these past 2 years. Gryphon Gala last year helped to solidify in my heart that advising NJHS & Girls Who Code has made a significant impact on our scholars. This was my first year in a dual role as a HAL employee & a parent to a HAL student. This year, my oldest starts High School, youngest 5th grade & my husband of 16 years starts a new job. Reach out to me at any time with questions or comments . I firmly believe I couldn’t do what I do without a village, and I’d love to be part of yours.
